CFO Sunvest Europe
Sunvest wants to contribute to curbing global warming and the decrease in biodiversity. We want to make our contribution by developing, building and operating ‘Natural Solar Parks’. These are solar parks that provide green energy and contribute to improving local biodiversity. An integral part of the development of a Natural Solar Park is a fair distribution of the benefits and burdens. We therefore work closely with local residents, local authorities and the local communities involved.
We currently have a team of approximately 40 people working full time on the development of ground mounted solar projects in The Netherlands, France and Germany and have 300 MW of Natural Solar Parks in operation with 1 GW of pipeline we are looking to deliver. Given our growth we are looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) that will strengthen our operations and team.
As the CFO at Sunvest Europe, you will play a pivotal role in driving our financial strategy and ensuring sustainable growth. You will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, including financial administration, planning, reporting, risk management, fundraising strategy, lenders and investors relations. But you will also be responsible for the asset management activities within Sunvest Europe as it is the core income of the company.
As CFO you would be part of the board of directors of Sunvest. The other two directors are the Business Development Director (BDD), Rene Hanssen, overseeing the acquisition and first stage development of new sites, and the Project Development Director (PDD), Bob Schulte, overseeing the permitting, grid connection and financing of solar parks. The board of directors report to the shareholders of Sunvest Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial planning and analysis: develop and implement comprehensive financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to support strategic objectives
- Financial administration: managing the financial administration team, perform the controlling tasks, manage external accountants and their annual audits
- Financial reporting: prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for the 3 country entities, in accordance with international standards
- Supervising the Sunvest Europe corporate team on Asset Management, developing strategies to optimize the financial and technical performance of the operational solar parks to secure long term income for the company
- Supervising the Sunvest Europe corporate team on People Management, improving and safeguarding the integration of the various teams working in different countries
- Risk management: identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks to protect the company’s assets, people and profitability
- Financing strategy: continuously review and challenge the existing financing structure, including reviewing the existing debt framework, explore competitive debt, quasi equity and equity solutions to fund the growth of the business
- Investor and stakeholder relations: build and maintain strong relationships with investors, lenders, contractors, partners and other stakeholders
- Treasury management: manage cash flow, investments, and debt to optimize capital structure and minimize costs
- Team leadership: Lead and develop the teams in the various countries, providing mentorship and guidance. This includes regular travelling to the country offices
- Manage the company together with the BDD and PDD including supervising the teams, attending board meetings, shareholders communications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Master’s degree or CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) certification preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior finance role, including experience in closing projects
and preferably within the renewable energy or a related industry - Proven track record of leading (financial) teams and driving successful outcomes
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English is essential. Additional language skills in Dutch, French or German are a plus
Package:
This position is offered on a fixed 12 months term starting as soon as practicable, with a competitive compensation package. If conditions permit it, it would be our intention to offer a permanent position to the candidate following the initial 12 months period. The candidate can expect opportunities to travel to visit partners and to participate in regular team building activities. The office location will be in Utrecht.
